& minerals in the garden

This two-and-a-half-day, trailblazing workshop brings together two globally acclaimed experts in fungi and plant nutrition: Dr Alison Pouliot and Graeme Sait. Drawing on their combined expertise they will present radical ideas about the roles and effect of fungi, microbes and minerals. They’ll demonstrate how fungi and microbes build the foundations of healthy soils and flourishing gardens.

This highly interactive workshop is the first of its kind specifically designed for gardeners and garden designers in Australia. Working as a small group of 20 people, we’ll explore, share and discuss core ecological concepts and practical techniques for restoring and maximising soil health in gardens and designed landscapes. This ground-breaking workshop is a unique opportunity to work with two leading innovators and is made possible by the generosity of Sandra, a wonderful supporter of Outlandish, who is an early adopter in regenerative farming principles and has been implementing these concepts on her farm and in her garden.

“The roots of almost every plant in the Australian landscape are intimately entwined with fungi. These clandestine relationships extend beyond the trees to include every orchid and most shrubs and grasses. Symbioses are the secret to success in our highly variable climate and nutrient deficient soils.”

Presenters

Dr Alison Pouliot

Dr Alison Pouliot is an acclaimed scientist, author of seven books and dynamic presenter who is cited for her studies and papers in the conservation and academic worlds on fungi. She refers to this as the ‘third F – Fungi’. That’s the ‘F’ that should be after Flora and Fauna. After hearing from Alison, it maybe should be the first ‘F’.

Alison has spent years exploring the subterrain around the world, particularly Australia. ‘Fungi not only help plants access water and nutrients but also increase their resistance to drought and disease. They build architecture in soils, aerate them, and allow water to gently percolate to deeper horizons.’

Graeme Sait

Graeme Sait is a globally respected author, educator, and founder of Nutri-Tech Solutions (NTS)—a pioneering company in organic and regenerative agriculture, offering cutting-edge inputs and world-class education. A sought-after keynote speaker, Graeme regularly presents at international conferences and advises at government level. His talks are frequently described as “life-changing” by attendees.

He is the author of two books and hundreds of published articles, and he writes the widely followed Nutrition Matters blog. Graeme also created the acclaimed Certificate in Nutrition Farming intensive that has trained over 47,000 farmers and consultants across four continents.

His popular Nutrition Farming Podcast has attracted over half a million listeners in 72 countries, and his recent “How to Do It” video series delivers hands-on demonstrations of regenerative techniques in action.
