Mario Schjetnan is an architect who graduated from the National Autonomous University of Mexico. He earned a master’s degree in landscape architecture and urban design from University of California, Berkeley. He was awarded the Loeb Fellowship from Harvard University to pursue advanced environmental studies.
Through more than 45 years of professional work, according to architecture critic Roberto Segre, “Mario Schjetnan is one of the leading landscape architects in Latin America and the foremost representative of the Mexican school. His creations seek a dialogue between tradition, modern culture, and nature.”
His projects have received numerous international awards. Among his personal distinctions are the international Oberlander Prize 2025, and Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe Award 2015, presented by the International Federation of Landscape Architects. This distinction is the highest honour that can be awarded during the lifetime of a landscape architect.
