Workshop

Landscape as Material

Presented by David Wong.

The way we see and the way we think influence the way we create. Perception leads to design. The expansive works of Christo and Jean Claude suggest that memory and experience play an important role in perception. To consider materials and landscape in new ways, memories become challenged and new ones created.

This masterclass offers fresh opportunities of experiencing landscape and materials. It will delve behind the creative minds of some of the world’s artists and architects. Andrew Goldsworthy, Mies van der Rohe, Rosalie Gascoigne, Jackson Pollock, Edna Walling and Pablo Picasso have approached materiality in ways we have not seen before, begging the simple question of how we can do the same.

This hands-on workshop offers a rare opportunity for you to explore and discover your own understanding of materials and relationship to landscape.
