A writer, publisher and editor based on a pecan orchard in the Dumaresq Valley, northern New South Wales, Annabel Hickson began her career as a news reporter for The Australian in Sydney and Brisbane, going on to write a monthly column for Country Style and make podcasts. Her book A Tree in the House (Hardie Grant) has been translated into German, Dutch and Chinese. Annabel is editor-in-chief and publisher of Galah, the award-winning print magazine of regional Australia, and founder of its book publishing imprint, Galah Press. A Garden Is Not a Painting by Carolyn Robinson is Galah’s debut as a book publisher, and Annabel will be in conversation with the author at the conference, talking about the making of two gardens — and the philosophy (and book) that grew out of them.
